PRESIDENT’S COUNCIL MINUTES
March 17, 2004

Present: Tom Anderson, Wallace Bonaparte, Frank Clark, Caroline Davila (for Sarah King), Dick DeChamplain, Bruce Elliott, Jim Fisher, Joe Good, Ray Greenberg, Mary Mauldin (for Kathy Chessman), Lisa Montgomery, John Raymond, Ken Roozen, Sabra Slaughter, Stuart Smith, and Walker Coleman

Guests: Jeff Gleim, Micka Robinson, Susan Barnhart, Liz Castle, and Anne Hantske

ITEM 1 Mediterra at the Wickliffe

Mr. Gleim and Ms. Robinson previewed services to be offered by the new Wickliffe House management with weekday lunches from 11:00 to 3:00 starting on April 1.

ACTION: Council welcomed the new management.

ITEM 2 Board of Trustees Presentations

Agendas for the April MUSC and MUHA Board meetings were discussed.

ACTION: Council approved agendas pending completion of several follow-up assignments.

ITEM 3 Employee Appreciation Week

Mr. Coleman summarized plans made to date by MUSC, MUHA, and UMA as well as requested Council input on several additional possible initiatives that had been suggested.

ACTION: Current plans were approved with Mr. Anderson, Ms. Montgomery, and Ms. Davila assigned to further explore three possible initiatives.

ITEM 4. Updates

Mr. Smith and Ms. Montgomery had learned of decisions made to keep providing Disproportional Share funds at least through the end of September 2005.

Mr. Anderson is working to expedite a special call meeting of the PDF to deal with three items of immediate business.

Council members were polled by Dr. Raymond regarding their recommendations for approval of the College of Medicine MD Dual or Cooperative Degree Programs.

ACTION: These programs were recommended for approval by the MUSC Board of Trustees at the April meeting.
