How
to Apply
A. Student
Self-Nomination
- Any
interested student may nominate her- or himself for the Program
- Student
self-nominees should submit an essay as described below
- Students who self-nominate must
solicit a letter of support from a faculty member or current or past Presidential Scholar who can
speak to their interest, accomplishments, and personal characteristics that support their
suitability for the program.
B. Faculty
Nomination
- Faculty
members and Deans may nominate students for the Scholars Program
- Faculty
should submit a letter describing the student's potential as a candidate
- Faculty-nominated
students will then be notified of their nomination and asked to submit
their own essay as described below
C. Current or Past Presidential Scholar Nomination
- Current or past Presidential Scholars may nominate
students for the Scholars Program
- Scholars should submit a letter describing the student's
potential as a candidate, including their interest in the program, accomplishments and personal characteristics
that support the nomination.
- Scholar-nominated
students will then be notified of their nomination and asked to
submit their own essay and CV as described below.
Application
Process
A. Good
Academic Standing
- A cumulative
GPA of 3.00 or higher is desirable for application to the Scholars
Program
- Students
should not be on academic probation or have academic deficiencies
B. Essay of Interest
- Students will submit an essay describing why they are interested
in the Scholars Program and what unique experiences or qualities
they would bring to the program.
- Essays should not exceed one page (8.5 " x 11" with
one inch margins, font at least 10 point)
C. Letter
of Support
- Students who self-nominate must submit a letter
of support from a faculty member
- Letters should comment on the nominee's interest in the program,
accomplishments and personal characteristics that support the nomination.
D. Curriculum
Vita or Resume: Not to exceed two pages
